That's a really good point. It probably is extremely addictive, at least for certain personality types (as with most addictive things, I suppose?). It perfectly caters to our lazy brains that crave instant gratification above all else and doesn't understand the rewards that will come with long term effort and hard work.
As I see more and more webcomics making this same kind of joke, I have become very aware that the internet is seriously addictive.
